Okay, this blog is about the path toward romance writing success, right?

So that means I have to be totally honest here and admit I’ve made many mistakes on this path.

On the other hand, I have learned a lot along the way and my stumble is your benefit.  And these mistakes haven’t stopped me from pursuing my dreams and your mistakes shouldn’t either.

What mistakes have I made..?

  • Rushing to get an agent and choosing the wrong one
  • Not spending enough time in the beginning learning about the romance writing industry
  • Not networking
  • Not creating a platform
  • Not creating a writing schedule (and sticking to it)
  • Focusing on the writing and not submitting to publishers and agents (We’re all busy but you can’t get published if you’re not knocking on people’s doors!)

You name it, I’ve probably made it.

Am I published? Yes, I had a short in Moxie Magazine and have published a ton of non-fiction pieces for clients (ghostwriting)

How many manuscripts have I written?  Um, six I think.  But I have a platform now and a direction.

At any rate, do as I say and not as I do, right?

What Makes Me the Expert?

I’m a reviewer for Romantic Times Book Reviews, I have finaled in a few romance writing contests, I’m on the board at Passionate Ink and an active member of Romance Writers of America and I am published.

But perhaps more importantly, I have made mistakes and learned a lot about romance writing and publishing. Take my experience and knowledge and shortcut your time to publication and a romance writing career.
